ABSTRACT
Coconut fatty acid ditillate (CFAD) was converted to emulsifier blends using a contious stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The reactor was operated at 55″(;, with 3:1 glycerol-CFAD volume ratio. Lipase from Rhizomucor meihei was used as biocatalyst. Relationship between power number and Reynold number at the reactor was expressed as : Npo = 2,8804.NRe-27521, and the optimum rotational speed of agitation was determined at 600 rpm. Maximum yield of monoacylglycerol was reached at reactor space time approaching 6 hours, The crystal of reactor effuent contained 75,6% monoacylglcerol, 18.7% diacylgycerol and 5,8% triacylgycerol based on the peak areas of chromatogram.
