Effect of types of plant and plant parts on the chemical composition, antioxidant capacity and antibacterial of the extract of perwinkle (Catharantus roseus) derived from plant cultivated at the highlands and lowlands in Bali

Perwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) is one of the plants used in traditional medicine. Perwinkle is an annual shrub from Madagascar, but has spread to many other tropical areas including the Apocynaceae family and genus Catharanthus. Place to grow plants perwinkle also affect the active compounds in plants. Active compounds that act as antioxidants or anticancer are secondary metabolites, thus more will be produced at plants in plant stress conditions, compared to the normal growth. Perwinkle plant growth is affected by altitude tumbuhya.
About 100 kinds of alkaloids have been identified in this plant, which is efficacious as an anticancer such as vinblastine, vincristine, an alkaloid katarantin and efficacious hypoglycemic (lowers blood sugar) such as leurosin, katarantin, lochneri, tetrahidroalstonin, vindolin and vindolinin.
