Graduate Student Research Paper Competition

GSRPC 2018

 Indonesian Association of Food Technologist (IAFT/PATPI) in conjunction with Food Ingredients Asia 2018 are organizing the Annual Meeting of IAFT and International Conference “Science-based Ingredients:The Future for Food in Asia” on 3–5 October 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. In order to increase the graduate students’s participation in this international conference, IAFT/PATPI organizes the “Graduate Student Research Paper Competition (GSRPC) 2018”. The purposes of this competition are (i) to cultivate the outstanding food science and technology researchers conducted by graduate students, (ii) to promote the development of food science and technology program in Indonesia, and (iii) to select the Indonesian graduate student representing in the best graduate paper competition in ASEAN level.

Paper Submission

Paper must be a research paper (not including review paper) and conducted by graduate student as a part of his/her thesis or dissertation. Full paper must be written in English, in form of MS. Word (.doc or .docx) following the writing guidelines of Jurnal Teknologi & Industri Pangan (JTIP) . At least one author must be a member of PATPI. The full paper (.doc or .docx), and participant’s CV (signed by supervisor, pdf format) should be sent no later than 20 July 2018 to:

Judging criterias

Research Relevance (25%)
  • Research area in Food Science and Technology (FST) and in relevance to FST development in Indonesia and South East Asia
  • Significance of the results to the development of FST
Clarity and Appropriateness of Materials and Methods (25%)
  • Ability to describe materials and methods
  • Ability to choose appropriate methods and its references
Comperhensiveness of Discussion and Conslusion (30%)
  • Ability to analyze the data
  • Ability to synthesize the arguments to support the results
  • Ability to identify the significance of the results
  • Flow and logic of discussion
Clarify and Quality of Writing (20%)
  • Grammatical
  • Organization of writing

As a result of the desk evaluation, the jury will select up to five finalists. The finalists will be informed of his/her selection no later than 30 August 2018. Selection of the winners will be made after all finalists have presented their work in front of expert panels on 3 October 2018.


Prize are given for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd winners
**NOTE: Papers that have already been published or submitted to peer-reviewed journals or to other meetings will be disqualified from this competition.
